This is the second of three cartoons supplied by Bawdy Bard with a strange history. Originally in black and white with captioned jokes (the other two came from Humorama), they were found by him on a now-forgotten website with the jokes removed for some reason and the art altered and colored. Actually the "alterations" here seem to have been accidental by-products of whatever technique the unknown colorist used; in terms of skill he's no Stone Knight, Baldios, or Doctor Cylon.
Something in the spanker's position seems a little off - he looks like he's typing at a desk instead of spanking a naked woman. Perhaps it's his relaxed posture, leaning back in his chair. And will you look at that: he's spanking her so hard, he's knocked her top right off! Just the kind of thing Ward, with his boob obsessions, would think of.

No one will ever know how many spanking cartoons Bill Ward did in his lifetime although of course we will someday have all of the ones he did for Humorama properly catalogued in the Humorama Spanking Data Base - there were simply too many venues, not to mention a few private commissions. As they range greatly in quality it isn't our goal to present all of them to CSR readers; however, we do pick them up where we find them, keeping the good ones in our files for eventual posting, and when BB sent us the one above we decided to check our files to see if we had an earlier version anywhere - and we did!
We don't know where we picked this one up, but it's signed "WARD for Michael Thomas Prod." We searched for "Michael Thomas Productions" but couldn't find anything, so unless another version of the art turns up, the place this originally appeared will probably remain a mystery. It's a reasonably good piece with happy participants, bikini top falling off and bikini bottom lowered for better access, and pretty good OTK positioning. The spankee's arms are effectively restrained but the position can't be comfortable (nor is it really practical). One hint that Ward didn't take that much time with the art is the way he drew the spankee's hands: clawlike and almost monsterish. This is a defect that turns up now and again in his work and which in our view signifies the artist's haste.
Interestingly, Ward did another spanking cartoon featuring these same two characters, and we have a copy of it which we will eventually present in the Doctor Cylon Gallery since (you guessed it) the Good Doctor colored it with considerably more skill than our no doubt well-meaning colorist here. That other cartoon suggests that the characters are a paper boy and a housewife, but there isn't much we can point too in this one to support that conclusion.
