If you've ever wondered why people are into spanking, this section will provide some answers. Because the subject is a complex one and editorial time is in short supply, we have elected to start out small with only a few articles and, we hope, grow with the passage of time, even though we would have preferred to open this site with a full complement of articles already in place.

Much easier to understand than a psychological theory of the fetish's origins is how to actually go about spanking in practice. ("Spanking" as used here is a generic term, including closely-related activities such as strapping, paddling, caning, etc. How to use these and other implements is covered in the individual articles). Proficiency in spanking, as with so many things, is largely a matter of technique. Certainly for both safety and satisfaction proper technique, which requires concentration but is not otherwise particularly difficult, must be employed. However, there is more to effective spanking than, say, hitting a baseball, because there is a human dimension involved. Therefore, along with the physical requirements we discuss some of the mental aspects of an effective and satisfying session.
